Silver content in X-ray film and Fixer and Hypo Solution

Silver content in X-ray film and Fixer and Hypo Solution
Last week I received lot of mails regarding Silver content in X-ray film and Fixer and Hypo Solution. Well, when we talk of silver content in x-ray films and fixer and hypo solution, we must first understand about how many types of x-rays we have. We get two types of x-rays from hospitals and scrap dealers. That is bone and chest x-rays. From bone x-ray films we get about 10 to 12 grams of silver per kg. Whereas from chest x-rays we get around 5 to 7 grams of silver per kg. Normally we get mixed lot of x-rays from x-ray clinics or scrap dealers. In these lots the bone x-ray is around 60 to 70% or sometimes even 80%  and the ratio of chest x-ray is around 30 to 40%  we can determine the per kg silver content in x-rays by assessing the right percentage of both chest and bone x-ray in the mixed lot.
As for determining the silver content in fixer and hypo, it is very easy we have silver estimator available in the market. We simply immerse the estimator in fixer or hypo solution and match the colour of the estimator with the colours in the chart that comes with the estimator. In front of each colour is given the silver content per litre.
Another method is to take one litre sample of hypo and fixer solution and precipitate silver from it, solidify that silver and weigh it, and that way you can assess the exact silver recovery from the whole lot of silver solution.

Precious Metals Extraction from Electronic Scrap
We have lot of things lying in the corner of our house such as few broken mobiles, DVDs, x-ray films one or two laptops and desktop computers etc. we hardly know that these few items of electronic waste are worth handsome amount of money. We take a sigh of relief when some scrap dealer picks them up from the house and does not even give us some pennies for them. But he makes money by selling them to the big local scrap dealer, who finally sells them to the recycler.
These days electronic recycling business is a big business, and people are making lot of money by recycling electronic waste. Big companies are engaged in Precious Metals Extraction from Electronic Scrap. Until few years back people hardly knew that companies involved in e-scrap recycling are minting money. Because they extract precious metals such as gold, silver, palladium and platinum etc. from them. Electronic components such as integrated circuits, chips, processors, microprocessors, computer motherboards, rams, hard discs etc. have lot of gold in them.
You too instead of giving your e-scrap to somebody free of cost can make money by extracting precious metals from it. There are many easy methods to extract precious metals from e-waste.
